Elizabeth Hille and Poker in Norway

The only other Norwegian poker player that is more famous than Hille is Annette Obrestad, the winner of the inaugural WSOPE in 2007. Overall, poker is not very popular in Norway and Hille says that she would love to see more girls start playing:

“Poker is a very misunderstood game in Norway. I’d love it if more Norwegian girls got into poker because most of it is all online right now. I fell in love with the game straight away.”

Historical WSOP 2012 Main Event was her second attempt. Her boyfriend won $20.000 in previous WSOP event and they both used it to buy-in to the Main Event that was so great for Hille.

For a whole Day 4 in the series she was sat with future champion Greg Merson. Not only she sat next to him, but she was stacking chips off him a lot, too. In fact the story might be completely different when Greg Merson flopped a set of Aces while Hille caught a flush on the Turn. Greg Merson value bet his set and folded to Hille’s all-in.

They also met at the same table on Day 6 and Hille managed to overplay Merson almost every hand.

    Sponsorship with Betfair Poker

Hille entered the WSOP 2012 Main Event as unknown but her moving forward has attracted lots of attention. On Day 4 of the tournament she was already playing in colors of Betfair Poker.

She was officially introduced as Betfair Poker sponsored pro after the main series, on 21 August, 2012. She has partnered with poker players you probably know. That’s Peter Eastgate (WSOP 2008 Main Event winner) and John Tabatabai (runner-up in inaugural 2007 WSOP Europe event).

Winning $590.000 has changed Hille’s life. Before that she was a recreational poker player and entered WSOP 2012 Main Event just because she had a lot of fun in WSOP 2011 and her boyfriend managed to cash in for $20.000 in WSOP Event 59.

After her 11th place finish she began playing more poker. In addition to her online poker success, she has several few cashes:

•Betfair Poker Live: Cork €500 No Limit Hold'em 8th place finish for €3,050 in October, 2012.
