Daniel “KidPoker” Negreanu is a poker legend from Canada. His insane reads and weekly rants are widely famous on YouTube. There is no poker player in the world that would not want Negreanu to teach them, however Negreanu himself often advocates his admiration to other poker players professionally. The Canadian is the biggest star of the Pokerstars Team of Pros.
Negreanu has an amazingly colorful background. He was born in Toronto Ontario, but his parents were living in Romania when the country was under the influence of Soviet Union. In order to escape communist regime his parents decided to move to U.S. However, they settled in Toronto where Daniel's father got a job as an electrician. A few years later, Daniels older brother was born and five years after, 1974 Daniel was born.
He went to Pineway public middle school in North York, however he was constantly in trouble. Negreanu's parents often received letters and calls fro the administration of the school with complains about Daniel's behavior. Daniel spent all his days at the pool bars as his dreams since teenage years was to be3come a professional snooker player. When he was 16 years old, he learned to play poker but he still wanted to play snooker for a living. When he was 18 years old, to graduate high school he needed only a couple of credits. Instead, Daniel Negreanu decided to drop out and pursue his dream.
Not being eligible for legal games, Negreanu started building his bankroll in illegal games in casinos all around the Toronto. When he was 21, he moved to Las Vegas for the first time to take a shot at going pro. Seven months back he had to get back to Toronto in order to rebuild his bankroll. Maybe in Las Vegas his bankroll was crushed but his determination only grew and that's when he made the final vow that he will return and conquer Las Vegas which he did the next year.
No one will ever know what a snooker player would have Daniel be, but he is certainly is an amazing poker player. In 1997 he won his first official tournament but it was just the beginning of a great poker journey as the same year he took down 2 more tournaments including World Poker Finals where he was named Best all-round tournament player. Next year he participated in World Series of Poker and won the single tournament he entered that year – $2.000 Hold'em Pot Limit. In 1999 being only 24 and already having a WSOP bracelet in his hands gave Daniel the nickname Kid Poker and made him one of the youngest players to win a WSOP bracelet. That same year Negreanu won $7.500 Holde'em Championship in Atlantic city to win his biggest prize up yet - $200.000.
The new millennium did not start well for Daniel with only two money finishes in 2000. However, from that point on Daniel Negreanu started winning numerous tournaments every year, with great wins. The most significant obviously include all four of his WSOP bracelet wins, two WPT titles, 2nd place in $7.000 WPT Limit Hold'em Championship 2004 with $675.000. Same year brought him one WSOP bracelet in $2.000 Limit Hold'em and two consecutive wins in WPT Events. His last WSOP bracelet was won in 2008, but in 2009 he almost won his fifth bracelet, but he finished 2nd in WSOP Europe.
Away from the felt Daniel Negreanu is an active member of poker comunity.
