NBC National Heads Up Schedule, High Stakes action at FTP and more

  • This week was crazy in poker world but the most important news come from Prague and Las Vegas where live events are undergoing. Also, Tom Dwan and Viktor Blom will be playing HighStakes HU games this weekend!

  • This week is steaming hot in poker. We have two WPT live events going on in Prague and Las Vegas, US and an Pokerstars Eureka event in Prague as well. Plus, twitter has been going crazy when Viktor Blom Challenged Tom Dwan to meet at High stakes tables again. And it is just the start with Gus Hansen sweating at the Racketlon s court, Phil Ivey starting filming videos for his training site and much more. As we said, the week has been busy. Let's look at the highlights of what is going on.

    NBC National HU Championship 2013

If you just realized that you may have missed the event in 2012, do not worry. The NBC National HU Championship returns after a one year break. The Main Event is $20.000 buy-in Heads-up tournament with the certainly all the biggest stars in poker world: Phil Hellmuth (2005 event winner), Erik Seidel (2010 event runner-up, 2011 event winner), Annie Duke (2010 event winner).

Youtube has all episodes of previous years:

Unfortunately, we may not see as as many first-class poker players as we are used to because the NBC HU Championship at Ceasar's, Las Vegas this year runs at the same time as one of the largest poker events of the year Aussie Millions that many poker players await for their $250.000 Super HighRoller and $10.000 Main Event.

As you now, the event down under, Aussie Millions runs 17 January – 3 February, while NBC HU Championship will run between 24-26 January which is understandably a disappointment to Erik Seidel, the winner of the last event in 2011. He recently tweeted:

As he does not say which is he going to we would guess it is Aussie Millions however it is clearly a difficult decision for Seidel as he is the defending champion of the HU event. We'll soon see.

    FTP High Stakes are back

Were you playing poker in 2009? If yes, you probably remember the nosebleed cash games at Full Tilt Poker betweent the biggest names in poker: Tom Dwan, Patrik Antonius, Phil Ivey and an unknown Isildur1. Well, the high stakes action has returned for a minimum $100k Challenge between Tom Dwan and Viktor Blom:

It has been confirmed that the amount they play for is $200.000 but you know how these might turn once the action begins. Anyway this is what Dwan replied:

As the High Stakes action returns this Sunday, it is surely going to be wild. Maybe not as wild as it was a few years ago but give it a bit of time and the due will be definitely joined by other poker players which would only mean the rise in stakes. Can't wait for Sunday to come. Can you?
