  • Dan Smith keeps the lead on Global Poker Index while WSOP Hall of Fame 2012 has new inductees: Brian Roberts and Eric Drache.

  • Last week two more poker players were chosen as new members of the Poker Hall of Fame club. Moreover, current GPI Poker of the Year leader Dan Smith continues his great year when he collects Sunday Million title at Pokerstars for over $200.000.

    WSOP Hall of Fame 2012

Brian “Sailor” Roberts as well as Eric Drache join the long list of Hall of Famers suchas Phil Hellmuth, Eric Seidel, Doyle Brunson, Johnny Moss and many others. But poker players around the world would agree that this years introduction includes the biggest poker icons.

This year's nominees also included Chris Bjorin, John Juanda, Scotty Nguyen , George Hardie, David Chiu, Thor Hansen, Tom McEvoy and Jennifer Harman-Traniello. As in 2012, introduction of two players is not a rare occasion. Here are two legends that join the club:

    Brian “Sailor” Roberts

Players may agree, that Sailor should have been introduced into Hall of Fame as he is one of the legends that along with Amarillo Slim and Doyle Brunson played at the very first WSOP events. In 1975 he became Main Event champion. Brian “Sailor” Roberts has passed away in 1995.

    Eric Drache

An established Stud Poker player, however he has joined the Hall of Fame less for his skill as a player and much more for what he did for the game itself. For example, he invented satellite format which is now many players' favorite way to enter a tournament. Chris Moneymaker, 2004 Main Event winner qualified to the tournament via $30 satellites while the actual buy-in is $10.000.

Dan Smith wins over $200.000 at Sunday Millions

If you are the best, you always win. As a poker player, you probably know it is not true. However not often first-class superstars wins the biggest online poker tournament but this time he did.
